International Gathering: Panel and 4th Ordinary General Assembly Held in Istanbul
The panel "Disability Through the Perspective of Wisdom" and the 4th Ordinary General Assembly, held in Istanbul on 28–29 July 2025, brought together members from 11 countries; Halis Kuralay was re-elected President.

A Historic Step in Marawi: Braille Quran Training Successfully Completed
The Braille Quran training held in Marawi, Philippines, on 10–25 August 2026 in cooperation with IBQS, TİKA, the Çare Association, TUFIFSA and the Sharief Group of Colleges was a first for the region. Twenty-six participants, 18 men and 8 women, took the course and received the first white canes of their lives.

Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş Guest of Honour at the Traditional IBQS Iftar
Our traditional Türkiye iftar was held in Ümraniye on 15 March 2026. Former President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş was the guest of honour; live connections were made with Gambia, France and Togo, and trainee teachers from Uganda and Sierra Leone were introduced to the guests.

Our Work in Africa Deepens: Visit to Gambia
IBQS President Halis Kuralay was in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, on 17–24 January 2026. He attended a meeting of foundations providing religious services in 25 African countries, presented Braille Qurans and Elif primers to the GOVI school for the blind, and guided the founding of a Gambian association to join the Union.

Braille Quran Trainee Teachers from Africa in Istanbul
Under the Braille Quran Instructor Training Project, a visually impaired woman from Uganda and a trainee teacher from Sierra Leone have arrived in Istanbul. After at least a year of training they will return home to teach the Holy Quran to visually impaired people in their own communities.

On 4–11 September 2025 IBQS President Halis Kuralay met organizations such as Islamic Relief, the British Columbia Muslim Association and the Muslim Association of Canada in Vancouver, met student groups at the University of British Columbia and gave an interview to the Al-Ameen newspaper.

A historic step in Marawi, Philippines: our Braille Quran training with TİKA, the Çare Association, TUFIFSA and the Sharief Group of Colleges is complete.

The panel "Disability Through the Perspective of Wisdom" and our 4th Ordinary General Assembly were held in Istanbul with members from 11 countries.

Thank-you visit to Dr. Celaleddin Ensar Şengül, 14th Regional Director of DSİ, for his support of our panel and general assembly.

Iftar with the visually impaired students of Albasir School in Mogadishu: learning materials delivered and a table set for 170 people.

At our traditional Türkiye iftar we connected live with visually impaired brothers and sisters from Bangladesh, Somalia, Togo and Uganda.

Braille Quran training has begun in Uganda: 35 visually impaired students in Kampala are learning to read the Quran in braille.

We visited Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu and asked for support for Braille Quran education and our 2025 general assembly.
