Braille Quran Trainee Teachers from Africa in Istanbul

Under the Braille Quran Instructor Training Project, a visually impaired woman from Uganda and a trainee teacher from Sierra Leone have arrived in Istanbul. After at least a year of training they will return home to teach the Holy Quran to visually impaired people in their own communities.
The training work the International Union of Braille Quran Services began for our visually impaired brothers and sisters in Africa is bearing fruit. Under the Braille Quran Instructor Training Project, a visually impaired woman from Uganda and a trainee teacher from Sierra Leone arrived in Istanbul in October 2025.
Our Ugandan student, Nassiva Sherafe, was welcomed by the Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi Foundation, and our student from Sierra Leone, Alusine Jallow, by IBQS President Halis Kuralay and Mustafa Göz, instructor at the Çamlıkaltı Quran Course. Alusine Jallow had travelled from Sierra Leone to attend the Braille Quran course we organized in Kampala, Uganda, in January 2025, and had said he planned to open a course in his own country.
After at least a year of training, both students will return home to teach the Holy Quran in braille to visually impaired people in their communities. They were introduced to the guests at our traditional Türkiye iftar in March 2026, where Alusine Jallow recited Surah Abasa from the Braille Quran.
