The Seed of the Union: 1st International Braille Quran Conference (February 2013)
In February 2013, at the invitation of Selahattin Aydın, representatives of organizations from 13 countries met in Istanbul to discuss the Quranic braille code, printing and distribution, and resolved to form an umbrella organization.
In February 2013, representatives of organizations serving in 13 countries came to Istanbul at the invitation of Selahattin Aydın for the 1st International Braille Quran Conference. Hosted by Esenyurt Municipality, the conference aimed to address the problems and current situation regarding the Quranic braille code and the printing and distribution of Braille Qurans.
The conference showed that visually impaired Muslims in different parts of the world encounter different braille codes, that Braille Qurans are not printed in sufficient numbers and quality, and that they do not reach those in need.
The participating representatives resolved to establish an international umbrella organization bringing together the organizations that provide accessible Islamic services in different regions of the world. This decision was the first step on the road to the founding of the International Union of Braille Quran Services.

At the conference held at ISAM on 25–28 August 2015, representatives from 18 countries discussed a unified Quranic braille code and access to religious resources for the visually impaired.
1st International Braille Quran Meeting Held in Istanbul
The first meeting, held in Istanbul on 21–23 June 2014, brought together visually impaired Quran reciters and representatives from 15 countries; our Union was officially established with this meeting.
